Message from the President
SAFE was established with a clear purpose: not to reproduce what already exists, but to bring together practitioner experience, financial engineering, operational infrastructure and technology in a way that helps commodity market participants operate better.
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Our business was created from a conviction that professional market participation requires more than access to prices, counterparties or technology. It requires judgement, structure, discipline and a clear understanding of how commercial opportunity, physical execution, financial exposure and operational control interact.
That conviction continues to guide SAFE today.
We work across physical commodity markets, commodity derivatives, brokerage, consultancy, risk management and technology. These activities are different in form, but they are connected by a common objective: to help clients make better decisions, execute more effectively and build stronger businesses.
The success of our clients is inseparable from our own. Our responsibility is therefore not merely to provide a service, but to create practical value with integrity, independent judgement and professional discipline.
Clients First
Putting clients first does not mean agreeing with every request. It means understanding the commercial objective, identifying the material risks and providing candid, proportionate and well-reasoned advice.
01
Trust is fundamental in commodity and financial markets. We conduct our work in good faith and expect the same standards from those with whom we engage.
02
We distinguish evidence from assumption, challenge accepted thinking where necessary and communicate conclusions clearly.
03
Our advice, software and analysis are grounded in the practical realities of trading, brokerage, risk, logistics and post-trade execution.
04
We favour sustainable capability, sound relationships and durable commercial outcomes over short-term appearances.
How SAFE Has Evolved
SAFE began with deep expertise in financial markets, derivatives, risk management and analytical support. Over time, our work expanded across physical commodity trading, brokerage, commercial advisory, operational consulting and the development of practical technology.

This evolution was deliberate. The challenges facing smaller and medium-sized commodity businesses rarely sit within a single function. A trading opportunity may involve pricing, hedging, counterparty risk, contracts, logistics, documentation, cash flow, settlement and management reporting. Treating these as isolated activities produces fragmented decisions and weak control.
Our role is therefore increasingly integrated. We help clients connect commercial strategy, market exposure, transaction execution, operational workflows, governance and technology into a coherent operating model.
What Clients Can Expect
We do not seek to impose enterprise complexity on agile businesses. Our objective is to bring institutional discipline where it adds value, while preserving the flexibility, speed and commercial judgement that smaller market participants often possess.
Every engagement should therefore be proportionate to the client’s business, resources, risk profile and strategic objectives.
01
Clear analysis of the issue, the alternatives, the assumptions and the commercial consequences.
02
Recommendations designed to be implemented, not merely presented in a report.
03
A disciplined approach to scope, responsibilities, delivery and outcomes.
Technology with Purpose
Our development of TradeDesk reflects this philosophy. The platform was conceived from inside the commodity business, around the workflows, relationships, controls and information requirements that practitioners manage every day.

Technology is most valuable when it reduces fragmentation, improves visibility and enables stronger decisions. It should not create unnecessary complexity or force the business to adapt to an unsuitable system.
Looking Ahead
Commodity markets will continue to be reshaped by geopolitical change, energy transition, regulation, technology, data and evolving patterns of global trade. These developments create opportunity, but also new forms of commercial and operational risk.
SAFE will continue to invest in its knowledge, technology and professional capabilities. We will challenge established assumptions, adapt where the market requires it and remain focused on the practical needs of our clients.
Our ambition is straightforward: to be a trusted specialist partner to commodity market participants seeking greater intelligence, discipline and control.

I would like to thank our clients, colleagues and business partners for the trust they place in SAFE. We value that trust and remain committed to earning it through the quality of our work and the integrity of our conduct.
